    Kiwanis Foundation Donates Backpacks

    On August 15th parents and students visited Alexander Elementary School for their annual “meet and greet.” While there, students in kindergarten were treated to a new backpack filled with books. The backpacks were donated by the Kiwanis Foundation of Lake Bluff & Lake Forest.     On Monday, August 21, 2017, students and staff from Alexander Elementary School wore their special “eclipse glasses” to observed the partial solar eclipse!     North Chicago School to be renamed after Evelyn Alexander

    Evelyn Alexander, a longtime volunteer and former North Chicago School District #187 school board member will be honored June 30th.  North Elementary will be renamed Evelyn Alexander Elementary School. The ceremony will begin at 2pm at the main entrance. Read the Lake County News-Sun Article

    Students enjoyed Lunch with a Book at North Elementary

    On Tuesday, June 6th, students enjoyed Lunch with a Book. In collaboration with Organic Life‘s, Erica Arlinsky and District 187’s Purchasing/Meal Coordinator, Susan Oglesby, students had the opportunity eat their lunch while reading a variety of children’s books.     District 187 Mystery Reader

    Lisette Brito, Director of ELL Services for District 187, was the mystery reader in Mrs. Langevin’s Kindergarten class on Friday, April 28th.  Brito read Bad Kitty by Author Nick Bruegel.
