A special thank you goes out to parents who braved the elements and attended this event, geared towards connecting with and informing parents about services and opportunities available for families in North Chicago Community Unit School District 187 (NCCUSD 187)! While the snow, cold weather and traffic congestion certainly presented their challenges, they did not stop those who attended from having a wonderful experience.
Over 25 organizations came out to this event to provide parents with a wealth of information about; summer and year round engagement opportunities for students, options for healthcare, ways to engage in the community, local gangs and drugs, support services for families, and much more! Additionally, parents who previously attended the Local Gangs and Drugs presentation held January 28th at the high school had an opportunity to reconnect with presenters from Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, and interact with their Special K9 Officer, “Jaku.” This was a captivating experience for all!
The evening generated many smiles from parents whose students will have an opportunity to qualify for a week long day camp this summer, thanks to scholarships provided by Springhill Camp, and from parents who walked away ‘winners’ from our NCCUSD 187 Raffle!
A big thank you to Mrs. Packard, Starbucks in Fountain Square, NCCHS PTO, North Chicago Community Partners (NCCP), and NCCUSD 187 for providing the raffle prizes! Of course, the evening would not have been a success without the support of NCCP, Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC), Parent Steering Committee (PSC), District 187 staff and student volunteers.
If you missed this event, we encourage you to stay informed about upcoming parent engagement opportunities by frequently visiting the district website, www.d187.org, and by liking our district Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/NCD187. We look forward to seeing you at the next event!
