Letter from the Principal

    Dear Parents/guardians,

    I wanted to send this welcome letter to all of our families to let you know how excited we are to have this brand new program here in District #187. The impact that early learning has on a student is tremendous and we are so glad to be a part of this experience for our students in this community and their families. We would like to thank all of our parents/guardians for your patience with the new process and procedure. Our goal is to make Green Bay a safe learning environment and we are working diligently to serve all our families.

    I would like to introduce myself, my name is Nicole C. Johnson and I am the Director here at Green Bay and the Director of Birth to 3rd Grade Programs for the district. I would also like to introduce the Assistant Director Ms. Janina Hall. We are excited to be opening this new program and are working very diligently to meet the needs of students, parents, and our staff. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call us. We realize that this week has had a lot of bumps but in this letter we would like to give you all some guidelines that that will help us have make a smooth transition throughout the year.

    Drop off time is 7:30 a.m. only for breakfast. Please bring students into cafeteria through the main doors and exit through the cafeteria back door.
    School Starts at 8:00 a.m. If your student is going to be late or sick please notify the school office. Student who are late with no call will receive an unexcused absence.
    Dismissal is 2:45 p.m. Pick-up is at the backdoor. Please do not block the door entrance so students can be released. We are going to ask that every parent/guardian sign their student out at dismissal. Every Wednesday students are dismissed at 1:45p.m.!
    Early pick-up; If your student has a Dr. Appt. or you would like to pick your student up early please call the office by 2:00 p.m. Due to safety at the end of the day and teachers getting ready for dismissal it becomes very disruptive at the end of the day to call down to a teacher’s class to dismiss students. You must show your Id when picking-up your student. If a relative or friend is picking up your student make sure that they are listed on your registration paper or as an emergency contact, they must show proper Id or student will not be released from the school. No exceptions!
    Bus tags/ transportation:
    Students were given bus tags with their pick- up and drop- off times please do not remove tags from their book bags! This is how we insure that all students are on the correct busses. We know that there has been a change in bus times for students please read the information that was given carefully. If you have questions please contact Tasha Johnson at the Board office: 847-689-8150. At the school we will only know your student’s bus number information and drop off and pick-up. We also gave walkers tags on their bags as well, so we can identify them. Again, please do not remove. You must be at the bus stop to receive your student at their designated stop. If your student is returned to school 3 times your student will not be able to ride the bus. You will have to provide transportation for your student. Safety is our number one priority your student will not be released if parent of guardian is not present and students will not be released to siblings. If you have not received bussing please again call Tasha at the Board office.

    Book Bag: Check your student’s book bag daily! This is the most important thing you can do. This is how we will communicate with you on a regular basis. This week we sent a calendar home for the month of September, teacher welcome letters, and important bus information.

    Food Service: Students receive breakfast lunch and snack here at Green Bay. If your student has certain dietary needs please call Susan Oglesby at the Board office. If you have not filled out a lunch application please do so and return it to your student’s teacher. Ms. Oglesby will inform families of your lunch status once application is reviewed. If you would like to send lunch with your student you are free to do so. We are a NUT free school not Nuts at any time can be brought into the building!

    Clothing: It has been very hot these last couple of days. Please dress your student appropriately for the weather. We are doing our best with fans and water but our rooms do not have air conditioning. Please bring an extra change of clothes for your students. Students are getting use to the routines of school and napping so at times they don’t make it to the bathroom as quickly. If you student is still in a pull-up please send extra and wet wipes and continue potty training at home.

    All visitors must report to the school office. It is imperative that if you are visiting our picking up a student that you check in with the front office and get a visitor’s pass. If you would like to visit your student’s classroom you are free to do so but please call the office and let us know that you are coming for a visit so that we can inform the teacher. There will be more information to follow on school visitations.

    Again, these are just a few things that can help make the beginning of the year smooth. If you have any questions or concerns again please call. Don’t forget September 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. is our 1st parent meeting. We would appreciate participation. We understand that it is scheduled in the day and some of you may be working.
