College and Career Readiness: EMPLOY
At D187 we help students prepare for the job market and achieve their career goals by offering coursework and real-world experience. Our career navigators help students develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to be successful in the workforce. They also help them find meaningful employment that provides a living wage after high school.
Work Study
The Work-Study program at NCCHS is currently in its fourth year of implementation.
Enrolled students take a one semester course (called Work-Study Course) during the first semester where many work readiness skills are taught.
Students who successfully complete the Work-Study Course are placed in Workplace Experience in the second semester.
During this portion of the program, students go to the jobsites two (2) days a week for a total of four (4) hours per week.
We are currently partnering with 15 different companies in 12 different industries.
Students receive stipends for completing various aspects of the program.
