Alternative Pathways to Teaching

What is the National Louis Teacher Residency Program?
The North Chicago CUSD187 residency program is a collaboration between the National College of Education at National Louis University and District 187 that offers a pathway to teaching for those with a bachelor’s degree in any field. This is an alternative pathway to teaching. Residents will gain hands-on experience in a district school as a student teacher (for a full year), with a mentor teacher, and pursue a graduate degree in elementary education (1st - 5th grade) with a bilingual endorsement (must be a Spanish speaker) or pursue a graduate degree in Special Education (K-12). Upon successful completion of the program, and a commitment to work in D187 for at least four years, you will be hired for a full-time teaching job in the district.
What is the Golden Apple Accelerators Program?

It combines rigorous coursework, clinical placements, and expert mentoring to prepare you for success in the classroom within 15 months.
