Registration

A parent or legal guardian must officially register students for school. An appointment is required if you prefer to register in person. To help ensure that school and students are well prepared for the first day of school, parents are encouraged to register their child/children as soon as possible. Doing so helps our school and teachers to be equipped and ready to make each student's first day pleasant and productive.

General Registration Information

  • Students may not attend school until health requirements are met or cleared by the school health office.

  • Students must be up-to-date with physical examination and immunization requirements. Please visit our Health Requirements Page for information. 

  • At its Community Health Centers, the Lake County Health Department offers vaccinations for adults, infants, and children. Schedule an appointment at a health center near you by calling the Lake County Health Department - Patient Access Center at (847) 377-8800. 

  • Children must be three years old by September 1st to enter preschool.

  • Children must be five years old by September 1st to enter kindergarten. A child who will be six years old on or before September 1st must attend school.

Requirements (New Student):

Three current proofs of residency are required to verify residency in North Chicago Community Unit School District 187:

One from Category 1:

  • Real Estate Tax Bill

  • Mortgage Statement

  • Signed and Dated Lease with expiration date

Two from Category 2:

  • Gas Bill

  • Electric Bill

  • Cable/Internet Bill

  • Medicaid/All Kids Card (DHS mail with name & Address)

  • Voters Registration Card

  • Car Registration

  • Car Insurance Policy

  • Bank Statement

*Parents must also show a driver's license or State ID*

Requirements (Returning Student):

Proof of residency will be required ONLY if your address has changed. Children who did not attend District 187 the previous year must provide proof of residency.

Registration Support

Parents needing assistance with the registration application are welcome to email our District Registrar Jaqueline Silva at jsilva@d187.org or call 847-775-1610 for K-8th grade or email our High School Registrar Maria Maldonado at mmaldonado1@d187.org or call 847-775-1643 for 9-12 grade to receive guided assistance with the registration process. Registration hours may vary. If you cannot come in during the listed times, please contact Ms. Silva or Ms. Maldonado for further assistance.
