Lake Division Dinner at Neal Math and Science Academy
On October 11, District 187 hosted the Lake Division Dinner at the Neal Math and Science Academy (NMSA) in North Chicago, Illinois. Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Chief of Staff Dr. Kimako Patterson served as the keynote speaker. One hundred fifty-five members of the Lake Division attended the dinner and toured the Neal Math and Science Academy.
The Lake Division Dinner event brings educators, administrators, and community members from the Lake Division. The event is an excellent opportunity for attendees to network, learn about the latest educational initiatives, and celebrate the successes of the Lake Division.
Neal Math and Science held the Lake Division Dinner for the first time this week. Neal Math and Science is a new state-of-the-art facility that provides D187 students with a rigorous and engaging education in STEM fields. The dinner attendees were impressed with the Neal Math and Science Academy's facilities and D187 initiatives.
In the keynote address, Dr. Kimako Patterson articulated the critical role that board members and educators play in students' lives. She reminded the group that we never know when we will be the most positive influence in a child's life. In addition, Dr. Patterson outlined ISBE's strategic planning process and priorities.
