D187's Evelyn Alexander Community Join "Bridges to Kindness" Walk
In honor of Ruby Bridges, a Civil Rights icon who made history as the first African American student to desegregate an all-white elementary school in New Orleans, D187 students and families joined the "Bridges to Kindness" walk on Tuesday, November 14, from 7:30 to 8:00 AM outside Evelyn Alexander Elementary School.
The event is a testament to Ruby Bridges' courage and determination in facing adversity. The walk began at the school's entrance and went around the block, symbolizing the progress made in the fight for equality and acknowledging the work that still needs to be done.
Thank you to everyone who joined and Assistant Principal Sarah Twiford and the Evelyn Alexander team for hosting the event!
