Thanks to everyone who joined our Kickoff Event for the Elected School Board Transition!
North Chicago, IL – North Chicago School District 187’s Independent Authority and Financial Oversight Panel launched a year-long campaign to inform, engage, and prepare the community for the return to an elected school board with a community-wide event.
The event – staffed by students – was held at North Chicago Community High School and drew a large crowd of families, elected officials, pastors, community organization leaders, and other leaders from the community. Attendees enjoyed a festive evening of food games designed to provide information on school board work and service, the opportunity to register to vote, and remarks from elected officials, including:
Hornsby Kneeland, Chairman, D187 Financial Oversight Panel
Dora King, Chair, D187 Independent Authority
Leon Rockingham, Mayor, North Chicago
Adriane Johnson, Illinois State Senator, 30th District
Rita Mayfield, Illinois State Representative, 60th District
A shout-out to our incredible student volunteers!
You were a vital part of making the Kickoff Event for the Elected School Board Transition a success!
We're building a bright future for North Chicago's D187 students.
