NCCHS Student Presents at Illinois Education Conference

North Chicago, IL: Jose Vences, a member of the graduating class of 2025 at North Chicago Community High School (NCCHS), recently took center stage at a statewide education conference. Vences and a panel of his peers presented their findings from a survey on dual credit and Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities for Illinois high school students.

The presentation on February 29th at the Illinois Education and Career Success Network conference in Palos Hills involved representatives from the Student Advisory Council (SAC) and the Board of the Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO). The student panelists analyzed data from a survey of over 7,000 Illinois high school students, focusing on their experiences with dual credit and CTE programs.

Vences and his fellow presenters identified barriers faced by students seeking dual credit and CTE opportunities and offered valuable recommendations to improve accessibility and awareness of these programs.
