A Night of Thanks and Recognition: District 187 and Forrestal Elementary Celebrate Military Families
Thank you to everyone who joined District 187 and Forrestal Elementary last night for a special event celebrating the Month of the Military Child! The evening was filled with appreciation and recognition for the strength and resilience of our military-connected students and their families.
We couldn't have pulled it off without you! The festivities started at 3:50 PM, and DJ Randall set the mood with lively music. A big shout out to our dedicated volunteers who helped parents and families sign in, enjoy food and refreshments, and admire the student art gallery.
The program commenced at 4:00 PM with a warm welcome from our D187 Director of Student Achievement, Nicole Johnson, who served as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Thank you! Following her introduction, the North Chicago Community High School NJROTC Color Guard took center stage with a stirring presentation of colors and flags. Their dedication and precision were genuinely awe-inspiring.
A special thanks to our Student Master of Ceremonies, Kaden, for guiding us through the evening's program. He introduced NCCHS Assistant Principal Andrew Jones, a US Air Force veteran, vocalist, and Assistant Principal at North Chicago Community High School. Mr. Jones displayed pride and delivered a moving "America the Beautiful performance."
Dr. Price took the stage at 4:50 PM and delivered a speech brimming with gratitude, reminding us of the importance of supporting our military families. Dr. Price said, “I am fully committed, and therefore, my entire D187 team is fully committed to supporting your child and your whole family.
The evening continued with a heartfelt display of student talent. Thank you, Zachary and Gianna, for sharing your original poems and touching the audience with your words.
Following the student poems, the Forrestal Ensemble graced the stage with a captivating performance. A huge thank you to the entire ensemble!
As the evening drew to a close, Nicole Johnson delivered a heartfelt farewell message, concluding a night filled with gratitude and recognition for our military families.
